Since I enjoyed reading Sara’s answers, here are mine. I fondly remember a time of tween blogging that had those chains every couple of weeks.
Tea, coffee, or water?
Tea, tea, tea! Then comes sparkling water, then comes still water. If I haven’t yet eaten, the mere smell of coffee makes me extremely nauseous; if I’ve eaten well, it’s just very uncomfortable. I am not drinking this thing. (Coffee-flavored ice cream and tiramisu are tolerable.)
Footwear preference?
I have a pair of hiking shoes (not boots) that is my go-to most of the time. I’d love to get real comfy hiking shoes that last forever, ideally leather, but I’m so scared that they’ll keep my feet too hot compared to my current mostly-fabric shoes that I’m not trying. Every time, I put the decision off until my shoes die and since it’s urgent I just buy the same model again.
In the summer, I try to wear sandals as much as possible. They’re open-toed sandals, but still made for hiking; I tape my insoles into them, which is pretty uncomfortable, but I haven’t yet found another solution.
Favourite dessert?
This specific cookie recipe (in French), or a bit of chocolate.
The first thing you do when you wake up?
I don’t have screens in my bedroom and have most energy in the morning, so I tend to get up easily and just start the day without staying in bed.
Get up, go to the bathroom, set the kettle to boil, read on the couch for a little while (usually my phone notifications + if I have more time and my brain is up to it, some of the news I’ve gathered on my e-reader for the week (yes I’ll have to make a post about that at some point)).
If I have energy and it’s not roller derby training day or a rest day, then a Ring Fit workout.
Age you’d like to stick to?
I often feel like I was happier a few years ago and then I think « nope nevermind ». Physically, I peaked at ~17 due to high-level sports, and since then things have gotten pretty bad in the years that should be my best, and now they’re getting better but I’m getting old enough that my knees are still angry at me no matter how much I reinforce them and put less weight on them! Mentally, I’ve felt like I was struggling more and more for the past couple of years, but I’m pretty sure it’s just because life is harder, not just cognitive decline. So I guess my current age (31) is nice enough.
How many hats do you own?
Right now, two and they both have a hole in them. I’m procrastinating right now and will emergency-buy a wool hat on the exact day that it gets really cold.
I also have 3-4 summer hats, which I always forget to wear but often carry with me when traveling. (Just like sunscreen, they just… stay in my bag.)
Describe the last photo you took.
A bird seems to have crashed into my office’s window. It left a very precise (and not gory at all, thankfully) imprint on my window and I’ve been trying to take a photograph, but my efforts aren’t working well, so I think I’ll probably just try and remember before cleaning the window.
I just don’t take many photos in general.
Worst TV show.
I don’t really watch TV shows anymore so when I watch something it’s generally somewhere between « good enough that half a dozen people recommended it to me» and « really great ». With that in mind, half a dozen people told me to watch Breaking Bad, I have tried so many times, and it’s just not for me at all.
Do you floss your teeth?
No. First of all, as far as I’m concerned flossing is a weird American thing to do. Second, I still have a teeth straightener contention thingy behind my teeth that doesn’t allow for flossing.
As a child, what was your aspiration for adulthood?
As a child I was a skater and imagined that would be a thing forever. As an older child I was convinced that I’d die before or at age 27 because anything beyond that was incredibly uncool and because clearly I was living life faster than most people so it would make sense that said life would also end faster than most people. Turns out I’m still here, I just hadn’t planned for it, so I’m still trying to figure things out as they come.
