It’s been a hell of a month and a hell of a week (in a good sense!), so apologies for this monthly recap being the latest I’ve ever done to date!
The weather is beautiful, I’m tired but in a great mood, I’m a year older (and I’ve reflected that in my monthly Now page update), and here are my recommendations for March 2026.
Oh, and I’ve also finished my physical therapy for that broken foot from last October. We’re still not fully there, but I’m really doing better and excited to start going for walks and hikes again!
(Also, I seem to understand that you can now like, boost and reply to my posts directly from a Fediverse social media account, like Mastodon.)
What I’ve read / Texte
📚 Books / Livres
In English
- Fiction
- Adrian Tchaikovsky’s Service Model filled me with joy.
- I loved Liz Moore’s The God of the Woods and was overwhelmed by the sheer volume of red herrings involved.
- Comfort read: I re-read the Scholomance trilogy by Naomi Novik and it was as good as I remembered it (unlike The Poppy Wars which was just too depressing)
- I loved Drunk on all your strange new worlds by Eddie Robson.
- I really enjoyed book 2 of the Vera Wong series, Vera Wong’s guide to snooping (on a dead man), by Jesse Q. Sutanto.
- Non-fiction
- I started Jennette McCurdy’s I’m glad my mom died expecting to read about a stage mom who’s annoying. It was much, much more than that.

- Fiction

In English
- The Pudding has made a happy map and it’s adorable.
- On Literary Hub, Marissa Levien talks about what we lose when we gamify reading: having myself gotten rid of reading goals (and still struggling not to count), I relate heavily.
- On Architecture Digest, Katherine McLaughlin tells us all about having a Y2K bedroom in 2026 (and why « nestalgia » might be pretty great).
- Examples of AI and AI companies being the worst:
- Grammarly turned me into an AI editor against my will and I hate it, says Casey Newton for Platformer. The tl;dr is that Grammarly can let you pretend you’re getting feedback from famous authors. Without their knowledge. Yikes.
- Scott Shambaugh tells us how an AI agent published a hit piece on him. What the hell.
- People talking about AI in interesting ways:
- Anne-Laure Le Cunff, founder of Ness Labs, talks about when being able to do everything prevents you from achieving anything, an interesting topic in this vibecoding age.
- On The Dial, Imogen West-Knights talks about [Wikipedia’s saviors in the face of AI](# In Search of Wikipedia’s Saviors).
- Scott Smitelli would like us to remember that when it comes to AI, you don’t have to if you don’t want to.
- Mike Monteiro teaches us to grow strawberries in the face of our uncertain future, especially in the tech industry.
- This article on KMJournal on why short-track speed skating in South Korea always feels like high drama.

What I’ve played / Jeux
Where I’ve been / Lieux
Spent the last week in Cannes for a work event and it was pretty nice. Went to a couple of hockey games, celebrated my birthday at La tanière au coin du jeu as usual, went up the Bastille using the bubbles like a tourist (or, more accurately, like someone whose foot is still not doing well enough to go for a walk on uneven terrain).
