Yet another super busy month, so no big personal update this month either. Things will settle down in June, I just have to keep it together until then!
I’ve updated my Resources page, adding a few links: a file converter, a watermarking tool for batches of images, and a tool that generates an RSS feed of new book releases by authors you like.
What I’ve read / Texte
📚 Books / Livres
In English
- Fiction
- A Witch’s Guide to Magical Innkeeping, by Sangu Mandanna. Soft and sweet and funny and cute.
- Still Life, by Louise Penny, book 1 of the Armand Ganache de la Sureté du Québec series. I read tome 15 last year (I think?) and really liked it, then I read this one without realizing it was the very first one. It was wonderful and I am tempted to read them all now.
- Buckeye, by Patrick Ryan, is a massive story of broken families. Yay!
- A/S/L, by Jeanne Thornton, is a trans masterpiece where I disliked everyone in the best possible way.
En français
- Fiction
📰 Web links / Liens web
In English
- A compelling title that is cryptic enough to get you to take action on it, by Eric Bailey. Hehehe.
- Post the Bills: photos of messages on lampposts.
- Doing your own research sucks sometimes, by Tracy Durnell. I strongly support the idea that a curated library is often better for a beginner than a web search / doing your own research. I treat wikipedia as a curated library, but sometimes I’d also like to create my own.
- Also by Tracy, Imagining better work: creating a niche for myself is really inspiring me as I start thinking of where I want my career to go.
- Mike Monteiro tells us How to do the work.
- Mehmoud Salem explains: how do you find an illegal image without looking at it, an essay on child sexual abuse material detection.
- On LitHub, Rosa Campbell explains how we’re all wrong about men and feminism.
- Molly Templeton published an essay on The art of buying books for other people.

What I’ve watched / Vidéo
🎞 Movies / Films
The Practical Magic 2 trailer reminded me of: Sandra Bullock’s smile. I don’t plan on watching the movie, haven’t seen the first one either, I just… Sandra Bullock’s smile.
Anyway.
What I’ve listened to / Audio
I finished The Magnus Archives and it was really great!
🎤 Podcasts
I only include links if the podcast has bothered to have a website. All episodes are available for free on your favourite podcast app / web reader. 🔏 are Patreon episodes: send me a message and I’ll send you the file.
I haven’t listened to nearly as many podcasts as usual this month due to my therapist making me work on doing one thing at once, which is my personal nightmare but also feel great, I guess?
In English
- On You‘re wrong about, Desperation pie with Sarah Archer.
- On Srsly Wrong, Sneakiness.
- 🔏 On NotAPodcast, the 420 special episode on Weed in Westeros. It’s very fun, although I am outraged that they didn’t mention that Renly would absolutely smoke weed (and be obnoxious about it).
🎹 Music
Borrowed the Safe and sound album by Awa Ly at the library, on the Recommended shelf. Good taste from the librarians.
What I’ve played / Jeux
I’ve played a lot of Stardew Valley, again. Oops!
Where I’ve been / Lieux
